This fact sheet summarizes information on crops, dairy, farmland sales, and farmland values for the Northeast District in Wisconsin between 1990 and 2002. It is meant as a companion piece to more extensive data available on the Wisconsin Land Use Data CD and the PATS website. In percentage terms, crop acreage decreased over twice as fast in the district as it did in the state as a whole. On the other hand, the district’s dairy industry was relatively strong throughout this period. Farmland values in the Northeast District increased significantly less than they did in the state. Though highly variable by county, farmland conversion was also less widespread in this district than in the state. Land use is highly varied across the Northeast District, with Oconto and Shawano counties being the two counties with the most agricultural land.
