This fact sheet summarizes information on crops, dairy, farmland sales, and farmland values for the Northwest District in Wisconsin between 1990 and 2002. It is meant as a companion piece to more extensive data available on the Wisconsin Land Use Data CD and the PATS website. Changes in the crop sector in this district mirrored those of the state as a whole, with slight declines in total crop acreage along with major losses in acres of forage crops and large gains in acres of soybeans. The dairy industry experienced much greater farm losses in the district than it did in the state as a whole. Average farmland values were much lower than the state average, but farmland values and farmland conversion rates varied greatly by county.
